It's been a while since I last posted and I want to update everyone on "What's New" here at Love Designs.  Some of you know that my sister, Hannah, had a little baby girl about eight months ago which has sent her into a whirlwind of creating all things GIRL!!!  Just recently we opened a new online store on Etsy called Emma Rae Designs where we are listing adorable, Vintage Style and Retro headbands for little girls.  My sister creates everything in the headband herself and takes careful attention to every detail and makes sure that each piece is cute and affordable.  Emma Rae is the star of all the photos, so check out our new store and let us know what you think???

Handmade Crochet Jewelry, Scarves and Flower Kufi Hats

Welcome to everyone who finds their way to this blog!  We hope that you all had a wonderful Holiday Season and that the New Year has been good to you so far : )  Old man winter has stopped in for a visit here in Northeast Ohio and today we are being hit by a very cold and windy winter storm.  So far this is the second winter storm this season and I cannot complain!  We live in the heart of the snowbelt and last year we hit a record high for snowfall.  This year we have been experiencing unseasonably warm temps and enjoying every minute of it!  This weather definitely makes you want to stay indoors with a warm blanket by the fire with a nice warm cup of hot cocoa.  It's also a great day to crochet : )

My sister and I learned how to crochet this year after realizing that we were not happy with the quality and availability of some of the items we were purchasing to make our Flower Kufi Hats (which were a HUGE hit last year!).  We want to ensure that the pieces we design and create are quality pieces that will last.  So, we decided we needed to create our own.  Learning how to crochet was challenging and very time consuming at first.  After we learned the basic stitches and created our first Hand Crochet Scarves, we were hooked!  We went on to Hand Crochet Fingerless Gloves, Hand Crochet Cuff Bracelets, and Hand Crochet Flower Hats.  Learning how to Crochet has sparked a new creative vibe with my sister and I.  We hope to expand our inventory over the next few weeks along with new pieces of Handmade Jewelry.

Great Holiday Gift Ideas~Hand Crochet Scarves~

Last week my sister Hannah told me she was going to learn how to crochet scarves...this week, she is onto Hand Crochet Fingerless Gloves....what's next??? Hand Crochet Beanie Hats! It never ceases to amaze how fast she picks things up! She just finished teaching me how to create a single stitch crochet scarf and this week I just finished my first double crochet scarf. What do we think makes a great scarf??? We look for yarn that is soft and comfortable along with colors that draw your eye and are popular for this season...bold jewel tones....modern blues and greens. Some of the scarves are chunky and make you want to wrap yourselves up in them and others are long and skinny giving you the versatility of wrapping it up several times around your neck or wearing it long over tees and blouses. Which ever style you choose...I have no doubt that you will fall in love with our selection. I've started listing some of these scarves and will be adding more daily.

~Love Designs-Cleveland Magazine Publication~

What's new at Love Designs??? We are so excited to announce that our Love Designs Boutique found on Etsy is being featured in the November 2011, Cleveland Magazine addition on the Style page!!!!! Whoo hoo!!!! This is the first publication that we've made and we couldn't be more proud of the hard work that we've put into our designs and shops and so grateful for the opportunity!

In September, Hannah and I were approached by Cleveland Magazine about doing an interview for their 2011 November issue and within a week, we were doing the interview and photoshoot. Doing the interview was more difficult than I thought...you have to think fast and it was really hard and nerve wracking and fun and exciting all at the same time. We did the photo shoot at the Potomac Bead Company in Medina which is a two story, rustic loft style building filled with every bead imaginable. A Beader's dream! The photographs were taken by Dasha at Pazza Photography who was very professional, real, and made us feel very comfortable as you can see by the photo taken of us featured here in this blog. Hannah and I are so grateful to have this opportunity with Cleveland Magazine and it left us wondering this question? What drew Cleveland Magazine to our shop?? Out of the hundreds of shops in the Cleveland area? There are so many talented artisans in the Cleveland but, they say it's was our signature flower which we incorporate into many of our designs.
